What happens after the Swedish citizenship test?

After you submit the test

Follow the test staff’s instructions and do not leave until permitted. UHR collects the paper tests before participants can depart. Keep access to your registration account and retain messages from UHR. Do not share information that could be used to identify or access your account.

Results were released on 22 October

UHR released the results from the first society-knowledge test on 22 October 2026. Participants can see their personal result by signing in to UHR’s registration account. Provkollen cannot access your result.

In total, 875 people took the test and about 80 per cent passed. UHR set the passing threshold at 28 out of 40 points, or 70 per cent. The paper contained 60 questions, but 40 were selected for scoring after the first trial. The 28-out-of-40 threshold therefore applies to the August trial and should not be assumed to apply to every future sitting unless UHR confirms it.

The result is sent to the Migration Agency

UHR reports the result automatically to the Swedish Migration Agency for processing your application. You should not normally need to submit the result yourself unless an authority specifically asks you to do so.

A test result is not the whole decision

The Swedish Migration Agency assesses the citizenship application and all requirements that apply to the individual case. A passing society knowledge test demonstrates knowledge of Swedish society, but it is not itself a decision granting citizenship. The knowledge requirement can also be met through other accepted evidence, depending on the person’s documents and circumstances.

Questions and item-level answers remain confidential

UHR does not publish the test questions, answer key, or which individual items a participant answered correctly or incorrectly. The result notice therefore does not provide a public answer key that can be used to reconstruct the test. Provkollen’s questions are independently written practice questions, not leaked or official test items.

If the result is not what you expected

First read the information in the registration account. Contact UHR if your question concerns the test or result notice. If you did not pass, follow the Swedish Migration Agency’s instructions for your citizenship case; Provkollen cannot assess your case or replace official guidance.

UHR plans the next society-knowledge test for April–May 2027. The exact date and registration opening have not yet been published. A new invitation from the Migration Agency and a new registration with UHR are required for the next sitting.
